Overview of Ford Protect Extended Service Plans (ESP)

New and Used Vehicle Protect Plans

Ford Protect offers four levels of extended warranty protection for your Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and competitive make vehicles. The plans cover failures due to defects in materials and workmanship. The four different level plans from highest coverage to least are PremiumCare, ExtraCare, BaseCare and PowertrainCare. The short summary below shows the number of components covered by each plan and the plans that include high-tech coverage. Ford PROTECT Plans

PremiumCare ESP

The best extended service warranty offered by Ford Protect is the PremiumCare ESP. PremiumCare covers more than 1,000 components from the powertrain to luxury items. The list of covered items includes the engine, transmission, electrical, brakes systems, front and rear suspension, rear and front wheel drive axle, steering, air conditioning and heating, high-tech components, audio system, safety features and emissions parts. Optional coverage for Interior/Exterior Lighting, including LED or lamp assemblies is also available with PremiumCare. A partial detailed list of components is available in the PremiumCare brochure.

ExtraCare ESP

The ExtraCare Extended Service Plan covers 113 key components after the New Vehicle Warranty expires. The components cover by the ExtraCare ESP include certain engine, transmission, rear- and front-wheel drive axle, front suspension and brakes parts. Some electrical and high-tech components are also covered, as well as the air conditioning and heating systems. BaseCare ESP

Eighty-four key components are covered under Ford Protect BaseCare Extended Service Plans. As a Ford basic care warranty, major mechanical parts in the engine, transmission, electrical, brakes, front suspension, rear- or front-wheel drive axles, steering, air conditioning and heating are covered under BaseCare ESP. PowertrainCare ESP

Key components covered by the PowertrainCare Extended Service warranty include 29 parts of the engine and transmission, plus the front- and rear-drive axles. Certified Pre-Owned Upgrade ESP

Powertrain coverage on a certified pre-owned Ford or Mercury vehicle can be upgrade with a PremiumCare, ExtraCare or BaseCare Extended Service Plan to suit different driving needs in terms of time and miles. Certified Upgrade plans come with Roadside Assistance, including: Towing, Emergency Travel Expense, Destination Assistance and First-Day Rental. Premium Maintenance Plan

Ford Protect ESP offers Premium Maintenance at intervals of 5,000, 7,500 and 10,000 miles to keep your vehicle in top condition with regular service provided by factory-trained, Ford certified technicians. All plans have $0 deductible and must be purchased before the earlier of 3 years or 36,000 miles. The comprehensive Ford Protect Premium Maintenance Plan features routine inspections, preventive care and replacement of normal wear items that require periodic attention. Premium Maintenance includes engine oil and filter changes, multi-point inspections, tire rotations, brake pads and linings, shock absorbers and struts, spark plugs, clutch discs, engine belts, coolant hoses, clamps, O-ring seals and wiper blades. New vehicle plans must be purchase within the time and mileage of the bumper-to-bumper New Vehicle Limited Warranty of 3 years and 36,000 miles. Warranty coverage begins on the in-service date and zero miles and expires at the earlier of the number of months or the number of miles purchased. New plan coverage is available on vehicles from 3 to 8 years and 36,000 up to 150,000 miles.

Used plans, on the other hand, require a vehicle Inspection because used plans are purchased outside the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Your Ford dealer will need to perform a vehicle inspection using a Used Vehicle Inspection Form available in our Document Library. Coverage terms for used vehicles begin on the purchase date of the contract and are available from 6 months/6,000 miles to 60 months/75,000 miles. Extended service under the plans is available at Ford dealers in the U.S., Mexico and Canada for both new and used Ford Protect Plans. Ford Protect also covers dealer installed accessories and offers Key Services option for lost or damaged keys fobs. Interior/Exterior Lighting for replacement and repair of LED and HID lamp assemblies and incandescent bulbs is available with PremiumCare Plans. Deductible options include $0, $50, $100 and $200.

The Ford Protect Care Plans provide 24-hour Roadside Assistance when the unexpected happens. This service includes: Towing Assistance (up to $100 per occurrence); Emergency Travel Expense (up to $500 within the first 3 days per occurrence); Destination Assistance (up to $75); Rental Vehicle Benefits includes up to 10 days of rental coverage for a covered repair. The plans can be cancelled when you sell the vehicle, and the plans can increase your resale values because they are transferable.

Certified Pre-Owned Upgrade Protect Plans

Ford Certified Pre-Owned Upgrade Plans provide mechanical coverage in addition to the Base Warranty of 84-month/100,000-mile Powertrain Care CPO Warranty on a certified vehicle. The table below shows the number of components covered and the plans that cover high-tech items.

The Ford Protect CPO Upgrade Care Plans provide 24-hour Roadside Assistance, including Towing Assistance, Emergency Travel Expense, Destination Assistance and Rental Vehicle Benefits similar to new and used vehicle plans.

Premium Maintenance Protect Plans

Ford Premium Maintenance Plans are available based on your needs or expectations for maintaining your Ford in top condition. And, you can choose gas, diesel or hybrid Ford Protect Premium Maintenance Plans with regular or synthetic oil changes. Owners can purchase scheduled maintenance at various intervals of 7,500-mile and 10,000-mile intervals for normal duty and 5,000-mile intervals for severe duty conditions.

The Premium Maintenance Plans also include multipoint inspections, tire rotations, diesel exhaust fluid as necessary, plus replacement of spark plugs, shock absorbers and struts, the clutch disc, engine belts, hose, hose clamps, and hose O-ring seals, brake pads and lining and wiper blades. Wear items coverage stays active until the contract expires by either time or mileage even if all the intervals are used earlier.
